这几天几乎我的每个美国朋友都在问我西藏问题，且我下周的一个presentation也是关于中国的，

今天又是奥运圣火在旧金山传递的日子，西藏，奥运，人权成为美国人“关注”中国的第一要任，

我不在伦敦，巴黎，多伦多，旧金山上学，我不能想那里的那些中国留学生一样走上街头为国家呐喊，

说心里话我很想成为他们中的一员，我能做的就是向我身边的美国朋友传递一个真实的信息，

这个不平凡的三月和四月，每一个身在海外的华人和留学生代表的都不仅仅是自己而是背后的国家，

用我们的微薄之力影响身边的每个外国人，至少我知道，我努力了，我会并且一直会把中国最好的一面展现给我的美国朋友。

I do appreciate your concerns about China and Chinese people.
And I beleive Dr. Chen can explain his opinion based on the objective points and views.
 
I do not deny that, even today, the human right in China is not as good as that in the United States.
However, as what I said during our last talk in your house, China is a nation of 1.3 billion people, and most of these prople are still not rich. No matter what the "communist" government did, we have to be at least proud of them feeding the whole 1.3 billion population and making most of the Chinese people living in a Whole Nation. I do not believe any other Werstern Countries' Leaders can acheive this goals as Chinese  Government does.
 
I would love to share my opinions with you about what happened in Tibet last month.
First of all, I was shocked by the pictures shown on TV of most American Media such as MSNBC,CNN, Fox, then I felt confused and a little bit angry about those media. Since they are not telling the truth to the generous and kind american audiences.
Most of the western media used fake pictures when brodcasting the Tibet issues happened last month, in their opinion, all Chinese soldiers and cops are jerks. But from the sources I got, those soldiers did not even fire a shot on March 14. There is a website established by volunteers, most of them are overseas students. The website address is www.anti-cnn.com, you can find how CNN lied to American people. The only source American got about Tibet is from your media, what happenes if your media was lying? In my opinion, CNN as well as most western media betraied their professional value as independence and objectives about Tibet this time. There is a new phrase in China these days "You should not be too CNN" which means " you should not be lying to us". Check the website I provided, you will understand.
 
China is a nation with different minorities and ethnics. And Tibet has been part of China for thousands of years.
Do you know how many Han Chinese died in order to build the roads and railway helping Tibetan's development? Tibet used to be a slavery society, Dalai Lama used to be the king in Tibet, do you know he used to ask two human Skins for his every birthday in 1940s? And do you know what he said and showed his great respects to Chairman Mao and Communist Party in the 1950s? And then he betrayed his motherland, he betrayed his people. These years, he lived in a luxury life in India and Western countries, and did nothing to help the Tibetan to develop Tibet. He is the one want Tibet to go back to a slavery society that he can be the king again. I do not want to judge Dalai Lama, but I do know, as the citizen of China, he should never betray his own motherland.
 
I can tell you this time almost 90% of Chinese suport our government to use military forces to crash the violence in Tibet. But our government did not even kill one Tibetan mob. What will American cops do if there are mobs burning cars, beating other civilians and crashing banks and shops in Tennessee?
 
Anyway, we Chinese should not deny the less human right in China, but we do expect and appreciate the objective judgment of China.
America respects diversity, please give a little bit respect to Chinese Government. The world can not always be running in the same rhythm. Western countries should realize that China is changing, please give us a little bit more time. US has become one of the most democracy countries after nearly 300 years history. It is only 30 years for China to become a capitalized society since the "Open Policy in 1978".
Western countries should be more patient about China. We are not North Korea, President Hu is not Kin Chongrin, China is changing and will continue to change. Think about the better ways, Olimpic Game is a better way for western people to know more about China, about Chinese people, we Chinese cherish this opportuny, and we really welcome our truly friend as you and S. to be the friendly bridge between China and US, and let your American friends know that we are not threat to the world, Chinese people are not jerks and our government is not devil.
 
Look at last 100-150 years Chinese history, We were baited by several other nations. We lost many parts of China such as Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan, Mongolia, even my hometown Dalian. We Chinese should not let this happen again, we love our nation as you do love America, we do not want to be Yugoslavia, and I believe every Chinese will try everything to defend our nation from separating into parts again. We Chinese really want a reunited family.

I read with interest your comments in the Johnson City Press today on the current strife over the 2008 torch run.  I believe now would be a great time to lead a discussion at ETSU on the unrest in Tibet and the sensitive position China is in when dealing with this problem. 

 

There are many local community members who would be interested in hearing your views and your take on the difficulty of dealing with the many different groups living within China today. 

 

Most Americans tend to think of China as one population of Asian people.  On our visit to China, we learned that there are many geographic populations that the central government is working to unite in many ways. 

 

Please take this opportunity to explain the intricacies of the country.  This may help us understand the actions that we see reported in our press.  We may not be so quick to judge the Chinese rulers if we understand better.
